Finally Friday

It has been an incredibly long week here in DC. Here are some pictures that put me in a better mood to start the weekend:

What I am Loving Wednesday

I'm loving...that I have finally gotten over my cold.

I'm loving...Dior Cleansing Milk. If you don't have a face wash you already love, this is the best stuff in the world. The smell wakes me up every morning and relaxes me very night.

I'm loving...Donna Lewis. I haven't heard this song in forever and it was playing on the way to the gym last night.

However, I am not loving the winter weather in DC. I am so ready for spring! See what other bloggers are loving over at Jamie's blog.

Greek

I love ABC Family's Greek. I make sure to watch it every week and I always took the show at face value. This season, however, I have some questions.

What is CRU supposed to be? Casey decided not to go to my beloved GW for law school when she finally won her way into CRU. GW is ranked 20th in US News. Fine, Casey stayed at CRU to make the show have another season.


Moving on...Rusty is an engineer and is competing against MIT for a grant. When I think engineering nerds I tend to think MIT, Stanford, etc.

And now Katherine is back at CRU. She left YALE to go to CRU's combined law/MBA program. Yale is the number 1 law school in the country.

I can't imagine CRU is this amazing school since people such as Cappie and Beaver are on extended stays. My only guess that CRU is supposed to be similar to the University of Michigan but they decided to set it in Ohio because everyone knows Ohio schools are better than the Wolverines. Michigan is ranked number 9 for law school,number 7 nationally for undergraduate engineering and number 12 for business school and since it is a state school people such as Cappie can fly under the radar and be undergrads for 6,7,8 years?

Top Two Tuesday

Top 2 Healthy Recipes and Snack ideas!

1. Thai Guacamole
*4 ripe peeled avocados
*1 lime's juice
*1 minced jalapeño pepper
*1 tsp minced ginger
*1 tsp chopped lemongrass
*2 minced cloves garlic
*1 cup chopped cilantro
* spices: salt, curry powder

Cut up avocados. Add lime juice, jalapenos, ginger, lemongrass, garlic and seasonings to avocado. Mash together. Stir in cilantro.

2. Peach Pie Smoothie from Ellie Krieger
*1/2 cup nonfat or 1 percent low fat milk
*1 cup unsweetened frozen peaches
*1/2 cup nonfat plain yogurt
*1 tablespoon honey
*1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
*1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
*nutmeg
*ginger
Add ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth. Smoothie is 240 calories and 0 grams of fat.

Weekend

This weekend was very low key and exactly what I needed since I was still fighting the cold that doesn't want to go away.

Friday night I watched Easy A and The Social Network. I liked them both but found Easy A to be more my kind of movie. Social Network just left me with so many questions. Mark Zuckerberg, are you really such a jerk? Do you lack all social skills? Are you and you friend buddies again now that you are both billionaires?

Saturday, I headed to the gym which was much needed. Later that afternoon I headed into DC to get dinner with a friend. A friend who ended up blowing me off completely and not calling me back for a solid 1.5 hours. I had decided that 2011 was going to be the year that I cleared crappy friends out of my life. I think I found the first one. He eventually showed up to the Wizards game and briefly apologized for bailing on dinner but I am still seriously annoyed and Hi, It's 2011, use your cell phone and tell me.

While I was wandering around Chinatown, I went into Ann Taylor loft. They have some really cute shirts for spring that I think will be added to my wardrobe.



The Wizards game was also a blast since in the last minute they beat the Celtics. Wizards games always start off sad since we have very few fans. This game was sold out and 90% of the people were wearing green. Boo Boston.


Sunday, I laid low and watched Mean Girls 2. Let me tell you WHAT A LET DOWN. There was nothing exciting about that movie. No "Boo You Whore". No "On Wednesdays, we wear pink". There was nothing.

Foodie Friday

Crunchy Peanut Butter S'more Bites

I love peanut butter cookies and recently came across this recipe. I am 100% sure it isn't for people trying to stick with their New Years Resolutions but...

Ingredients

• 2 cups crunchy peanut butter
• 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
• 1 cup marshmallow fluff
• 1 cup coconut flakes
• 4 cups melted chocolate chips
• 5 cups powdered sugar
• 1.5 sticks butter

Directions

1. Add peanut butter, butter and powdered sugar in a large bowl.
2. Beat with a whisk until smooth.
3. Scoop the mixture into balls and press into a flat shape. They should resemble quarters.
4. Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes.
5. Mix coconut flakes with the graham cracker crumbs.
   
6. Take coins and dip into melted chocolate then toss into coconut/graham cracker mixture.
7. Refrigerate coins for another 30 minutes.
8. Squeeze fluff into the center of two coins.
   
9. Make a sandwich with the coins. Let them set and then Enjoy!

The Golden Globes- K Edition

Award Season Post 2.

The Golden Globes took place this past Sunday and here are my thoughts on the fashion.

Favorites:
Carrie Underwood. GORGEOUS.

Mila Kunis. The color of this dress is just to die for.

Honorable mentions: Amy Adams. Maria Menounos. Megan Fox.

Confused:
Anne Hathaway looks great here. However, I don't understand the shoulder pads and it makes me rethink if I like the dress.

What were you thinking:
Helena Bonham Carter. No surprise here. This look is just a mess.

Michelle Williams. Flower power? No thanks.

A Short Weekend Round Up

M and I had a wonderful time in NYC this weekend. I was finally able to meet her bf and I absolutely loved him. It's weird when you know so much about someone but have really no idea who they are. Now, I do!

Friday, we caught up and gossiped and I became besties with J. Saturday, we had an earlyish start and went to Alice's Tea Cup for brunch where I had the most amazing french toast. Then we had our Central Park adventure. The park was still completely snow covered so we walked at the world's slowest pace and went to see the Alice in Wonderland statue (maybe one day I will upload photos and be able to show you). Then we took a stroll over to Bloomingdales to find M some new snazzy shoes. M walked away with two amazing pairs of shoes.






Sparkly Sperrys. Love. Boat shoes are such a comfortable easy shoe to wear around town and I was happy M has embraced one of my loves.





She also got these fun metallic silver Revas.







Saturday afternoon was spent watching Now and Then. This movie is just SO good. The cast. The soundtrack. Devon Sawa! While we were watching, we discovered that RUMER WILLIS stars in the movie as well. That evening we headed over to a bar called Heidelburg where we worked diligently to consume our beer boot.


Then yesterday, M hosted all of her girlfriends for a brunch. This was fun because I was finally able to put faces to names. The least fun part of the weekend was leaving my bestie to head back to DC. How was your weekend?

Reunited and It Feels So Good

Top Two Tuesday

Top 2 Favorite Items from 2010!
1. My largest purchase of 2010 also happens to be my favorite: My new car.

It was a sad day realizing I had to give up on my first car love, my GMC Jimmy. He had never let me down and then went to the mechanic and I found out he was on his death bed. Sad days.

2. Garden Flags. I have a little patio in the front of my house and this year I started a garden flag collection. I really love looking outside and seeing my little flag. It adds some color and doesn't upset the Condo Association. (They have strict rules on flag size, shape, location, etc).

Outside right now is my Ohio State flag. (Similar to this one but not this one exactly). My brother got it for me for Christmas.
